What would you do if you had the opportunity to travel back in time? To go back 10 years earlier, with all the information you have today? This is precisely what happens to Ji-Won (Park Min Young), protagonist of the Korean hit show Marry My Husband (in French "Epouse mon Mari"). Released earlier this year, the series is an adaptation of the online comic of the same name, which you can read here on webtoons.com. In this new article, I share my thoughts on the show and some remarkable lessons to be learned, so let's go!

Synopsis

Park Ji-Won (Park Min-Young) is a young woman who discovers that she has terminal stage cancer. During her hospital stay, she finds out that her husband, Park Min-Hwan (Lee Yi-Kyung) is cheating on her with her best friend, Jeong Soo-Min (Song Ha-Yoon). After a violent argument with him, she dies and finds herself thrown back 10 years, long before her marriage and illness, with her full memory and a vengeance to execute. 5 Life lessons from Marry My Husband

Everybody is not your friend

Ji-Won and Soo-Min are two friends who have been inseparable since high school. From adolescence to adulthood, Soo-Min has been secretly jealous of her classmate and always got in her way. She never supports her friend Ji-Won, she constantly criticizes her behind her back, she belittles her in front of her colleagues and in front of their former high school friends. And, as if that weren't enough, whenever her toxic behavior is exposed, Soo-Min makes herself out to be the victim. In life, not everyone wishes you well, and everybody who smiles at you is not your friend. Identify them, and distance yourself from them.

Demand respect

In any relationship, respect is a given. In the beginning of the show, we're faced with an insecure Ji-Won, who endures a lot of frustration (coming from her job, with her in-laws). On one hand, there is her despicable boss who is trying hard to kick her out of her own project so he can take all the credit for it, without mentionning her, and on the other hand, there is her mother-in-law, who humiliates her on a regular basis, making her life harder than it should be. As we move forward,in the show, she is becomes more self-confident and is (finally!) able to set bounderies and stand stand up for herself. You should be the "episode16 Ji-Won", instead of "episode1 Ji-Won ": Fighting !

Ask for help

I will now focus on Ms Jang's case (Gong Min-Jeung). She was on the verge of a burn-out. Juggling between her personal life, her professional life and her health, had become heavy. Ji-Won, her colleague turned friend, realized what was going on and immediatly offered her support and a shoulder to lean on. So, whether it is your friends, your parents, or even a healthcare professional (for example), don't be ashamed to ask for help. This will never make you weak, it's quite the opposite. Try it, and make your life easy.

Create a solid support system

As the story unfolds, Ji-Won is less isolated and starts to get closer to her colleagues, who will become her friends. It is a solid, caring group of people, displaying no toxic competition, no jealousy, just 100% good energy. People who stand up for you, even if you are not around, and above all, who want to see you shine. These are the people you want in your life. Quality over everything!

Opportunities are everywhere, keep your eyes open

Chef Baek Eun-Ho (Lee Gi-Kwang) is a talented entrepreneur, but finds himself stuck in an uncomfortable situation following against his will, he then has to deal with. Just when he's about to give up, he's offered an even better project. When one door closes, another opens. And most of the timethe best opportunities can present themselves when you least expect them. So, keep your eyes open my Dear, work hard, and stay ready.

My review

I give it a solid 9/10 : the plot, the acting, the costumes, the scenery - everything is made to captivate the audience. Every actor played their roles to perfection, but I would like to give a special shoutout to Song Ha-Yoon (the friend, Soo-min), a truly talented actress, carried this show on her shoulders (in my opinion) ! Along with, Park Yi-Kyung (the husband, Min-Hwan), another incredible actor, who did a great job with his portrayal. This duo really made my blood boils! (laughs). If you followed my instragram stories last February, you've already witnesssed my LIVE reactions! Finally, I always pay particular attention to the soundtrack, which I think really brings the show to life. My personal favorite : Wounds of time (시간의 상처) from Kim So-Yeon. I'll let you go ahead and find out for yourself then come back to give me your very own review in the comments section below.
